Project Description
Development of mini Hydropower Projects for Rural Electrification in Mountainous Provinces in Lai Chau and Dien Bien Provinces. Grid Extension and Rehabilitation of Distribution Networks Serving Poor Communes in the operational areas of PC1 in northern Viet Nam (mainly, Lai Chau and Dien Bien Provinces), PC2 in southern Viet Nam (TraVinh and SocTrang Provinces) and PC3 in Central Viet Nam (several provinces). The grid extensions and rehabilitation will be to facilities owned by each PC.
Description of Services Provided:
Review of Government Strategies and policies on renewable and legal framework related to rural electrification and small hydropower development
Review of all previously available documentation of small hydropower development in the proposed provinces
Coordinate necessary consultation workshops to be done at district, provincial and national level
Design of renewable energy and rural electrification projects along with planning, implementation and supervision
Design of small hydropower planning, tropical hydrology, geology, civil works, turbine, mechanical and electrical works
Construction Supervision
Design of medium voltage transmission and low voltage distribution design
Economics of rural electrifications
Financial and institutional analysis
Environment, resettlement, gender, ethnic minorities, gender issues, HIV issues, social development, and poverty analysis, monitoring and evaluation
Review of the geological and geo-technical conditions at the site and reservoir with reference to foundation of the dam, spillway, waterways, and power plant
Assessment of the need of monitoring dam safety
Necessary Field investigations needed for detailed design
Review of the contractor’s and supplier’s operation and maintenance manuals.
Preparation of reports to the Executing Agency and ADB at regular intervals to summarize the progress of the Project and to identify possible difficulties and delays.
