Monitoring Study on PO Surveys, and Capacity Development Activities related to Environmental and Social Consideration

This Survey aimed to elaborate on the specifications of and requirements for the Japanese ODA loan project for RE deployment and EE&C measures application. This was conducted through a two-step loan scheme whereby the fund was channeled to component implementing entities through IDCOL. The project implementation plan, which included the project scheme, a list of potential components, the project cost, and financing arrangements and timetable, was be formulated as one of the outputs of from this Survey.

Description of actual services provided by the staff within the assignment:

e.Gen supported Mitsubishi Research Institute, Japan in Renewable Energy Development Project (REDP) through the following activities:

• Monitoring of JICA-REDP subprojects through document and on-site survey;

  • Appraisal of reports;

  • PO (partner organization) analysis;

  • PO selection;

  • Capacity building and environmental and social assessment.

  • Sub-projects that are evaluated includes SHS program, solar irrigation pumps, mini-grids, gasification of biomass and biogas power generation components.
